Filtration systems can be a very important part of any fresh water system; they can greatly reduce the quantity and size of sand particles in a water supply and depending on the application, can also increase the life of your pump.

If you have sand in your water supply, and don't want the hassle of buying and replacing filters periodically, then we have the solution for you.

Centrifugal separators don't use a costly element that must be changed periodically and require disassembly. Instead, they simply use centrifugal force to separate the particles from the water. As you can see in the image to the left and also the animation, the particles stay on the outside of the swirl until they lose force and fall to the bottom of the chamber; the clean water is sent up through the top discharge and into your water supply. To clean the filter, you simply open the valve on the bottom and drain the particles out until the water is clear, then close the valve. It is quite possibly the easiest maintenance you will ever have to do in your home and the product has no moving parts that could fail and no annoying element to change.

The Lakos filter is not limited to residential applications either. They have a wide range of industrial equipment as well, such as the SST multi tank filtration system. It is capable of filtering large amounts of water, such as a drip irrigation system. It uses a sand media to trap particles in the water and filter them out; and for cleaning it uses a backwash method to clean each tank individually and pushes the collected particles back out through the top of the tank and out to the drain.

For pump protection on a submersible deep well pump, Lakos has a design that separates out sand before the water ever reaches the pump. Once again it has no moving parts to fail or service; the sand simply drops out the bottom of the separator and returns to the bottom of the well, rather than causing damage to your pump or fouling your water supply. If you have a high sand content in your well ask for a Lakos pump protection separator.

We do understand that not all problems with sand in your water are extreme amounts. Lakos also offers a cartridge filter that will remove particulates as small as 30 microns.
