Pressure Tanks

Pressure tanks are a key component for improving the water pressure into your house (a booster pump is also required). They are also available in industrial, both ASME code and non-code construction for commercial applications. When combined with a Booster System that has been properly designed and installed a pressure tank can offer many benefits such as, stabilized pressure (no water surges), to devices that require higher pressure to work better (i.e. dishwashers, showers, etc.).

Most home systems have a slight lack of water pressure. It's not always a noticeable problem, nor an inconvenience, yet still there are many cases where it is a serious problem for a homeowner. One instance is when a home has a private well and a storage tank and there is usually very low pressure available; even if the tank is on a hill. To fix this problem you would need to have a booster pump and pressure tank to increase your pressure.

To remedy many water pressure problems Amtrol has the tank for you. The most common tank to suit your pressurizing needs is a standard bladder tank, which consists of a special rubber liner inside the tank, which separates the air from the water. This precharged tank allows for water to enter under pressure, and creates a necessary delay for the pump to cool between cycles. These tanks are available in many sizes, and must be sized to fit your Booster System, for proper operation.

Perhaps you have a problem with water hammering (when you turn off a faucet you hear a loud thump). Then maybe a simple hammer suppressor is all you might need; it's quick and easy to install and can be done by a homeowner (some plumbing modification may be required).

Amtrol also has air relief systems that will greatly reduce air bubbles and pockets in your system and relieve them without any water leakage.

For homeowners a large concern is space, and how much will be used by a Booster System. Amtrol has a solution for that; it's the High Performance Pressuriser. The pressuriser features a top mounted pump and is available in three sizes depending on your home's water needs. With the top mount design, it allows for much less space to be taken up. It may only be installed indoors, but it won't take up more space than an average water heater and is an effective cure for low pressure. It does however require a minimum incoming pressure of five PSI to operate. So be sure you check your incoming pressure before purchasing a pressuriser system.
